Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has astonishing $94 million opening in China

While the latest Resident Evil sequel may be a flop in the United States but it is coming back from the dead overseas.

In it's opening weekend in China the film opened to a stellar $94.3 million. This puts the films total gross at $238 million. If it keeps up this pace it should pass the $300 million dollar worldwide gross of Resident Evil: Afterlife making it the top grossing film in the Resident Evil series.

Although we have been promised that this is the last Resident Evil movie, with international numbers like these don't be surprised if you see another resident Evil sequels focusing on other characters such as Leon Kennedy or "S.T.A.R.S. (please let it be "S.T.A.R.S).

Get Out has $30 million opening weekend

By George L. Cook III HorrorNotes.Com

Wow it's been quite a year for Blumhouse productions. First M. Night Shyamalan's Split grosses over $130 million, and now they find success with Jordan Peele's directorial debut, Get Out.

The excellent movie which deals with subtle racism but does so within parameters of the horror genre grossed $30.5 million on a $4.5 million dollar budget in it's opening weekend. The horror flick beat out Lego batman for first place. To put that into perspective Split had a $40 million opening on a 9.5 million budget while Don't Breathe had a $26 million opening on a 9.9 million budget.

Get Out also had a very diverse audience with 39% of the audience being African American and 36% of the audience being white.

The movie benefited from great review including 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes which is very rare for a horror movie.

If the movie follows the pattern of both Split's $130 million and Don't Breathe's $89 million look for it to gross about $90 million.
