AMC Networks, Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics revealed today the historic new cover to The Art of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universe from iconic illustrator Brian Rood (Star Wars, Transformers).
This all-new cover marks the first time that the casts of AMC’s three iconic TWD series – The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond – have ever been featured in the same piece of art, and includes the artist’s rendition of over 50 (!) cast members, along with a multitude of terrifying Walkers.
“We’re thrilled to reveal this monumental painting by Brian Rood, combining all three of The Walking Dead Universe series like never before,” Mike Zagari, Head of AMC Networks Publishing, said in a statement. “The image perfectly encapsulates the epic scope of the ever-expanding TWD Universe, and we look forward to sharing more with fans as we approach the book’s launch this fall.”
Available at comic shops on September 29, and everywhere books are sold on October 5, The Art of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universeis an in-depth compilation of behind-the-scenes pre-production and production art from all three of AMC’s iconic The Walking Dead series and will feature never-before-seen original sketches, concept art, storyboards, special product illustrations, and more from the shows inspired by Robert Kirkman’s comic book turned pop-culture phenomenon.
Marking AMC Networks’ first venture into book publishing, the book also features an introduction by Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe Scott M. Gimple and fun facts from creators and crew members on all three series. The Art of AMC’s The Walking Dead Universe can be pre-ordered now everywhere books are sold, in both print and digital formats. Watch the cast and creators of The Walking Dead discuss Season 10 and answer fan questions at a virtual panel discussion during Comic-Con@Home
The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang announced during the show’s Comic-Con@Home panel on Friday, Season 10 will be getting an additional six episodes that will air in 2021.
Season 10 hadn’t yet been completed when the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S. shut down most Hollywood productions back in March. The remainder of the season aired anyway — except for the finale episode, which will presumably wrap up the story of the war against the Whisperers.
While we’ll finally get to see that episode in October, it’ll be a while longer until we get more of the main series. No additional episodes of “The Walking Dead” will air in 2020. “Fear the Walking Dead” Season 6, which in a normal year would premiere in August and run up to the start of Season 11 of the flagship series, will instead take the normal “TWD” window in October.
There will be an 11th season of The Walking Dead, showrunner Angela Kang confirmed at New York Comic Con on Saturday morning.
Lauren Cohan also made a surprise appearance to announce that her character, Maggie Greene, is returning to the show. After lengthy negotiations, Cohan has signed on to rejoin TWD as a series regular.
Cohan, one of TWD‘s most popular cast member, exited as a series regular at the end of her contract after Season 8 when negotiations with AMC had stalled and she was cast as a star of ABC’s pilot Whiskey Cavalier. She carved out a guest arc and appeared in the first five episodes from TWD‘s ninths season before segueing to Whiskey Cavalier.
When the ABC action drama was canceled in May, Cohan was approached by AMC about returning to TWD, with negotiations spanning the summer.
In June, AMC pulled Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick’s talk show Talking with Chris Hardwick, and removed him from hosting network’s aftershow, The Talking Dead while it conducted an investigation relating to allegations of emotional and sexual abuse of actress Chloe Dykstra. AMC has revealed that Community star Yvette Nicole Brown will take over his duties on The Talking Dead, at least for now.
AMC told Deadline that Brown would “step in as an interim guest host of The Walking Dead Season 9 Preview Special on August 5 and Talking Dead when it returns following the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead on August 12,” while it finishes its investigation into Hardwick’s behavior. Brown will also take over for Hardwick at San Diego Comic-Con this week, and will moderate the network’s Hall H panels for The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.
In June, actress Chloe Dykstra published a Medium post alleging emotional and sexual abuse from an ex-boyfriend, widely speculated to be Hardwick. Hardwick has since denied the allegations, and has seen himself distanced from places like AMC and the website he founded, Nerdist.
Walking Dead leading man, Andrew Lincoln confirmed that season 9 will be his last on the show while appearing on the show's Comic-Con panel.

AMC’s zombie hit The Walking Dead is in its seventh season and flirting with 100 episodes. So how much longer can it go?
Creator Robert Kirkman, who writes the comic the show is based on and also serves as a producer, went on record saying he believes they’ll still be around five years from now — and possibly a good bit longer. In the latest issue of the comic, Kirkman mused about the longevity of the series. For Kirkman, he sees The Walking Dead going strong well into the early-to-mid 2020s.
Here’s an excerpt from his comment:
“It took us six seasons to get to 100. It won’t take us six years to get to 200 and that will take us to season… TWELVE. And we’ll still be ahead of the show at that point.'

AMC has ordered another season of monster hit “The Walking Dead.” The no-“braaaaains”-er comes a full week before the series returns for its seventh season. The 16-episode Season 8 will premiere in late 2017; all 16 episodes of the next season will be followed by episodes of Chris Hardwick-hosted aftershow “The Talking Dead.”

During and interview The Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, once again teased the end of the popular drama. He revealed that the series and comics will have different endings.
Kirkman said the following, according to The Wrap:
“I hope the show ends and the comics keep going. The comic was the comic before the show, so I try to maintain that. I know how I want to end ‘The Walking Dead’…I don’t want it on the show before I get it in my comic. If the show were to ever end at any point and the comic was still going, I would have to sit down with Scott and pretend I have no idea how to end it and then work with him to try and come up with a new ending.”
The Walking Dead will premiere its new season on October 23.
KINDLE __________ PAPERBACK
I'm sure many of you saw The Walking Dead's Season 6 finale and are still pissed or waiting on pins and needles for October. Many of you sick puppies wanted to see a major character die and of course we didn't see who got "Lucilled."
But I have my own theory and that theory is that Negan killed Abraham. Why? Well read on for three reasons why.
1. It's his time. Abraham has already lasted longer than the character did in the comic books and the character seems to have run his course. He is more or less part of a comedic duo with Eugene.
2. If you want to scare and intimidate a group who do you go after first? The biggest and baddest of the group. Abraham showed how bad assed he was by actually rising up (well as much as he could) when Negan approached him. Beating Abraham to death would put fear into the others who see him as the toughest SOB in the group.
3. After being hit with "Lucille", the victim rises back up causing Negan to say, "Taking it like a champ."
I can only see Abraham being able to rise back up like that. The others may not have been knocked out, but I can't see any of them being strong enough to take that blow and rise back up like that.
So what do you think about my theory?
