Are zombies overexposed right now?

Every where you look right now there are zombies. Zombie movies, TV shows, commercials, comic books, and of course books/ebooks seem to have taken over in popular culture right now.

Of course most of this is driven by the phenomenal success of AMC's The Walking Dead. Of course The Walking Dead comics are hugely successful and that's not to mention the success of The Extinction Parade by Max Brooks or George A. Romero's Empire of the Dead when it comes to comic books.

There will be a sequel to World War Z and there will be a Pride , Prejudice, & Zombies movie

But just because that show and movies like World War Z have been successful doesn't mean that we might be reaching the over saturation point with zombies. If you do a search for zombie books on Amazon right now there are 9,055 results at the moment I am writing this post.

TV shows such as the BBC's In the Flesh have already joined the market and shows such as Helix have zombie elements. ( Okay the infected elements ) NBC is set to produce Babylon Fields a series that started out seven years ago as an CBS project.

If you have Netflix or check out YouTube you are already aware of the thousands of zombie movies out there and trust me there are thousands more to come.

This leads me to ponder just how much zombie themed entertainment can the market bare. Are we reaching the point of over saturation. Even hardcore zombie fans most be wondering the same thing.

What's Next for Zombie Video Games?

So are games where the presence of zombies is the defining feature are, pardon the phrasing, dead? Not exactly. Cavender says that Telltale Games' adaptation of The Walking Dead, a 2012 Game of the Year winner at Spike's Video Game Awards, remains popular.

That game "kind of changed the way we want to see a story told and it hit a lot of people in a lot of ways," he says, referring to the game's unusual mechanics. Telltale's The Walking Dead isn't a shooter so much as a third-person graphic adventure where choices (rather than a controller) determine outcomes.

Fortunately, The Walking Dead isn't the only option for those who just want to destroy zombies. Cavender also cites Outlast, Left for Dead 2, and Dead Rising 3 for Xbox One as existing titles that deliver for fans of the genre. Yet all three might pale compared to a new Techland game called Dying Light.

Review: Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies

As preposterous as the title sounds and the obvious fact that the film is a ripoff of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter this is actually a pretty decent zombie flick.

The movies title pretty much says it all. President Abraham Lincoln and a group of Secret Service agents fight zombies in an attempt to keep the infection from spreading.

That being the plot one has to temporarily ignore the fact that sending in a company of troops would have worked much better. Also there's no way in hell anyone would have let the President of the United States lead an attack against the living dead even if that President is Abraham Lincoln.

Now as for the acting, it sucks. Except for Bill Oberst who portrays Abraham Lincoln no other actor in the movie should quit their day jobs. That does not take away from the movie though which moves at a brisk pace and actually has one or two genuine scares. There is plenty of zombie action but maybe not as much gore as some would like. As for the zombies these zombies tend to "sleep" even when humans are around at times. If seems as if the script dictates when the zombies are aware of the humans.

To me what makes this movie fun is the historical figures that it works into the script. Theodore Roosevelt, Stonewall Jackson, John Wilkes Booth, and Pat Garret (look it up). It's amusing to see little nuggets dropped here and there about things that later or said or done by historical figures. The writers Richard Schenkman, Karl Hirsch, and Lauren Proctor were very clever in this regard.

I strongly recommend that you check this movie out. Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies is a fun, quick, and enjoyable way to spend 90 minutes.
