‘Resident Evil’ Franchise Set for a Reboot

From Variety:

The “Resident Evil” movie franchise has not ended after all.

Details such as the reboot director, stars, and how the reboot would fit into the franchise narrative are being kept under wraps. But Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of the board at Constantin Film, did confirm to Variety at the Cannes Film Festival that a reboot is in development at the giant German production company, which owns rights to the franchise and has produced all of its installments.

The franchise was set to end with this year’s “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” which grossed $312 million worldwide after its January release, including an eye-popping $160 million in China alone. Sony helped sow the seeds of success by securing a release for “Resident Evil: Afterlife” and “Resident Evil: Extinction” in China.

Check out the pretty good zombie movie Re-Kill on Netflix this month.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if someone mixed the movies Starship Troopers, 28 Days Later, a little dash of Escape from New York, and the TV show COPS? Well if someone did, they would probably come up with he movie Re-Kill.

At first the format of the movie can be a bit confusing until you are actually watching a network airing of a TV show, commercials and all. But the movie is a fun 90 minute zombie movie. The movie adds nothing new to the zombie genre but is a balls to the wall zombie war movie that delivers on the action and the gore. It's also much better acted than one would expect. It stars genre vets like Bruce Payne (Warlock III, Hellborn), Scott Adkins (Universal Soldier:Day of Reckoning, Legend of Hercules) and Roger Cross (Dark Matter, The 100, The Strain).

Re-Kill is directed by Valeri Milev. (Wrong Turn 6: The Last Resort & Code Red.)

You can check it out on Netflix, it's available this month! Check out the trailer below
